Hey guys! As people might have noticed, the latest update is out! There is a new island with new dangers....but its only the beginning. The outhouse is the latest item for the islander....but more will happen with the egg in Episode 16...which is my new favorite update.
So, a couple things....
- I have to go through and approve comments. I'm using my laptop finger pad and I slipped and I just accidentally rejected 20 comments :( really sorry! I shouldn't be performing such a delicate procedure at 7:30am..
- In those comments was some information about people having trouble with crashing! Anyone experiencing that, please comment again as we want to resolve that immediately if its something more than needing to restart the phone, or involving jailbroken phones!
And yes, that means Dave will submit the latest update ASAP....except we might wait a little bit to hear about technical issues, just in case it is a code issue we don't want to go out in the next release! -A
Anyway to add a statistic for the number of times a coconut bounces on the heads of the islanders? Perhaps keep track of the highest number of "juggles" (?)
ReplyDeletemy iphone crashes after the install is done but it works after the second attempt of trying to open it. than after that it sometimes crashes now and then.
ReplyDeleteAbout crashes, on my iPod touch (2.2.1 firmware) no problemo, on my "older" iPhone 2G (2.2.1 firmware) it starts and then after the intro, it crashes back to the homescreen. When i put the phone to flightmode the game runs fine, but with no internet connection there is no logging on to Feint. Will test some configurations and report back here...

ReplyDeleteUPDATE: on my iPod Touch it keeps running, it runs fine for like an hour now, logged into Feint and all. On my iPhone 2G i have to turn Wifi off (i can keep phone functions on) with wifi off it runs fine!! maybe Feint/PG combo problem??
ReplyDeleteI had an incident where two of them went into the outhouse at the same time. One came out (no pun intended) but the other stayed in until I knocked on the door at which point he came out. Actually only his name was visible but the native wasn't there.

I had the same crashing problem. I have an iPhone 3G, 2.2.1 Jailbroken. It would crash after loading, just after OpenFeint starts doing its think. I managed to stop it from crashing by quickly activating the top menu and switching rapidly between the two islands. So far it's not crashed since. Hope that helps!

ReplyDeleteI liked the new island, but I saw a strange bug, when one pygmy exit the bathroom, and there are 2 waiting, they enter together and only the last one exit, the other disappear and only his name stay on the screen.

Crashing on Ipod touch 1G, 32GB, OS 2.2.1. I have tried shutting wifi off and it still crashes. Also tried reboot,reinstall, etc.

AWSOME UPDATE! and yes mine has been crashing too, i even turned phone off for an hour to make sure it wasnt that (mine isnt jail broken either) it turns on, loads and i go to touch my pygmy and then it goes down... please fix... LOVE POCKET GOD

iphone 3G with all the latest updates, non-jailbroken. This game crashed immediately upon opening beyond the splash screen the first 2 times I ran it. After I reset my phone, it crashed again but then it opened and seemed to run fine. Haven't had time to play with it more.

ReplyDeleteOK, Last night after I downloaded the update, I was unable to get Pocket God to launch. I made 4 attempts, and 4 failures. Even after restarting the phone. This morning, I was getting ready to write up a bug report and grab the crash logs on my phone when I attempted running it again to get a nice clean crash log. Of course, it worked perfectly. It's been running fine ever since. Weird.
ReplyDeleteI did notice the problem that octavio mentioned where one of my islanders were not appearing, yet their "custom" name was. The ghost islander would inhabit the body of one of the other islanders as they went to the outhouse. When the islander left the outhouse, the ghost would leave their body.
I uninstalled Pocket God and reinstalled it. I customized the names again and now I am not seeing this problem. My guess was that something with my crashing last night must have corrupted something else. I could be wrong.
If you still want the crash logs from last night, I can send them to you. Just let me know.

ReplyDeleteI have realized the issue. It is the logging into Feint. When I turn off Wi-Fi and go into airplane mode, the game loads and I can play, but it is very buggy and lags, so it may be startup code that causes the issue.
Mine also crashes. i tried clearing up some memory using a memory clearing app and restarting the ipod, but it didn't work.

i think you guys should finish the third episode of the trilogy and patch it with tyranasaurus strikes back and release it sometime this week so by next week we will have the complete trilogy, well within time line! =D

I love the new update. It works just fine on my ipod. Hasnt crached a single time. I have had it since Chap 10. Sometimes the coconut on the screen stays there when I transfer islands. I LOVE IT

... I suspect that is this related to Feint login.
(Wi-Fi connection I was using today seemed to be having problems, and looked as if it was allowing ICMP traffic but not TCP traffic. I noticed with one of my own applications that code such as Apple's "Reachability" sample-code was quite happy that the site it pulls updates from was reachable, even though connections actually timed out. Was this causing PG to try to connect to Feint on application startup, and then aborting because TCP timeouts are 30 seconds whereas Apple only allows 20 seconds to launch? If this is the case then login should be made more robust... and certainly independent of the application starting.)
only crashing issue i had was on start-up it would start then crash back to main screen but when loaded a second time would work fine. also i noticed a little bug with (what i think is) the gravity effects on the new island if i moved my iphone a little like while walking sometimes an islander would fall off the bottom of the screen (kinda like when you turn the iphone upside down)all in all loving the new update, can't wait for more stuff. hopefully future updates will be approved faster for all our sakes, bolt has bred a new generation of addicts...and we love it!
ReplyDeleteI love Pocket God but I too can't use the latest update on an iPhone 2G on 2.2.1 firmware because it crashes every time I open it. I did the reboot dance and re-installs but it still crashes. Hope it's fixed soon! Keep up the amazing work!

I also saw that if you put the egg just to the side of the outhouse, the islanders will walk through it on their way into the outhouse. Also, i was wondering what makes the islanders have to go to the bathroom? Is it random or related to how many fish they eat? And will they eventually come out or do u have to knock on the door?
ReplyDeleteCrashes everytime. I wouldn't recommend upgrading to this until they fix the bugs. I don't understand how you guys test this before you release it. Do you even test it? Are you ok with people paying for your app, only for it to crash countless times? Perhaps you should do some more research before you release it. Quality not quantity.

It's crashed a few times after my iPod Touch (1st Gen, never jailbroken) has been off/in sleep mode for a while, but the next time it'll load right up. Total crashes for me: about 3 or 4. Love the update, you guys deserve number one on ALL the App Stores!

it wokred for about 2-10 seconds i think its feint... maybe over croweded and that reminds me when i was playing PG on the road (no Wifi because of my ipod touch) Say My Name it was laggy like crazy so this all must have something to do with feint
Sometimes one of my islanders will go into the bathroom, and then I will change to the old island, that bathroom islander is now invisible but his name is still visible.
ReplyDeleteHey, this is simply an observation that I think could be fixed. While using the gravity feature on the new island, I noticed that although the right side is longer, the point where the islanders fall off is the same, which seems to take off quality from the game.
ReplyDeleteWow. Looks like we are having some really unfortunate problems! This is Allan and since I'm the designer, I would be the worst person to speculate. Dave is on a small vacation so I'm hesitant to bombard him with the complaints. I've said, check out the pocket blog comments. In the mean time, he instructed me to tell people this:
ReplyDeleteits jail break phones, have them start in safe mode. Or have the restart their phone or delete the app, restart, then reinstall.
However, it seems that some aren't jail broken and others have tried all this. PG shouldn't be so touchy so we will push to correct the situation ASAP. Thanks for giving us such detailed information and trying all the stuff to fix it! We appreciate the patience! Also
someone mentioned having to buy pg again(!) that's a new one. I will check into that too!
I certainly hope we won't have this many issues with the next update because it is very cool and people will be ticked if it won't come up!

switch from the brand new island to the old one and you should have the ant farm set
to prevent from Dcing quickly hold the magnifying glass over the islander untill he sweats (make sure he doesnt blow up) then quickly throw the magnifying galss away and change to the new island and then as fast as possible create 5 new islanders and VOILA!!

Hey...i'm having trouble just downloading the update. From my iphone 2.2.1, it wants me to buy it again, then says that it can't download b/c it's being modified right now. From iTunes, it says that i'm not entitled to get it at the "discount" price and have to buy it again. I figured what the heck, just $1, so i clicked to buy it and got the same "i can't download it right now b/c it's being modified." i guess with the current crashes, etc., it's just as well, but wanted you to know about it. this thing sure is fun though. thanks!

ReplyDeleteMy pocket god app some times just go's to the loading screen then crash'es the only way to fix it is to delete the app and install it again (which is a pain). By the way get rid of feit chat it is terrible!!!

ReplyDeletedang it!!!! my ipod just froze up today and i cant the new update!!! for some od reason when i came home from school and went to play with my ipod it was just frozen i tried rebooting it and it still froze!!! now its been like that for hours and its taking foreever for the power to drain out so i can plug it in and recharge it fully to see if it fixes it!!! ahhh man i wanted to see the secret structure for myself so it would be more of a surprise!!! But now cuz of the dumb ipod i cant even get my ipod going let alone get the update!!!!!!!! but i like the outhouse even if i dont have the update!!!

Bolt Creative: I was playing PG and someone was in the outhouse and another in line so i picked up the guy in line then set him back down while i got the guy inside out. well the guy i picked up and set down got back up and went in the same time as another guy. so they were both in there and when i got them out one person came out and the others name just appeared on the ground and no movement. just wanted to inform you.
ReplyDeleteI have found a glitch. Some how there ends up being two islanders that go into the outhouse and then only one comes out after knocking and one of the names will sit near the outhouse. The islander won't reappear without leaving the app and then re-entering.

On my Jailbroken iPod Touch 2G (2.2.1), whenever I touch the screen, the framerate drops significantly and starts lagging a lot. This has been happening since the Something's Fishy... Update. I remember reading a post one of the programmers made about this being an issue that he had fixed, but for some reason it is not fixed on my ipod. Please help me fix this, I've dealt with it for far too long!

once you're on PG quickly toggle both islands as fast as you can 10-15 times then start to play on any island you want it works all the time for me wifi and no wifi
but there is one problem if you pick up the islanders or fish its laggy
(its not the side effects of the technique its just the new updated version)

Hi, I don't mean to be nitpicky because I really do love this game but I wasn't sure if you guys saw the bug where if 2 or more pygmys try to enter the outhouse they both go in then when "they" come out they are just on pygmy.

ReplyDeleteI was having lots of issues with crashing starting with the fire ants episode. I'm on a 2G iPhone not jailbroken. Similar to other reports, my game would crash at startup. I assume that it's something with the WiFi check for Feint. The strangest thing was when episode Say My Name came out the stats for Klik were strange. The more I killed him the happier he got. With the latest update I was crashing so often that I nuked the app and reinstalled. This fixed most of the issues but I still crash occasionally at start.

I have not yet been able to get it to work. All night I have been loading, reloading, turning off and rebooting my phone. I love this game and I'm getting really sad it wont work. If I could get any help whatsoever, I would greatly appreciate it. Ill stop messing with it tonight to see if that makes a difference. Ill try again tomorrow. Nothing I have tried has worked. Again, my favorite game, I look forward to the updates and cant wait to check this one out as soon as it works!

I deleted it and reinstalled it, it still crashed.
I read that you have to delete it, reboot the phone and reinstall. Did that and it still crashed.
I am using an iPhone 2G, jailbroken 2.2.1.
Hope an update will fix this issue soon. I am so envious with those who have been playing with it. The house...the egg...I can only see them for a second before the app crashes.
Hi guys....I have new 3G iphone and ever since I downloaded the latest update 2 days ago the minute I open PG it crashes! I'm kinda bummed because from what I can see in the half-second before it crashes the new update looks fantastic!! I've even tried deleting and reinstalling app, and still no dice... It crashes. Please, please (& pretty please) fix soon so I can get back to torturing little Fifi, Moishe, Bongo and Chuck....thanks!

in the second island, instead of ants, it will be replaced with bees and replace the shark with a giant octopus
the islanders should have some reactions to the eclipse...
make another trilogy but the titles are still star wars like attack of the bees and revenge of the octopus...

ReplyDeleteI fixed it for myself by updating to the new version and then logging into my phone (browsing the phone) and deleting the preferences.plist file from /var/mobile/Applications/7BCF915E-91C9-4485-9B2A-54CA988B28B2/Documents then restart the application and the file is newly created by the app. and then it works perfectly!!! this deletes all settings (names etc) from the game but it keeps working!!!! maybe a dev. can confirm the some part of the old config is not compatible with the new version?!
the animations when i hold the pygmy up in the air lag a lot in the new island.... the pygmy freezes for half a second before it suddenly appears at my finger... and if i hold the pygmy up and release immediatly, the pygmy lags and fly up in the air for one frame or so and then lands... other than that, I have only experienced the toilet-lag... great job and the new island is fantastic:D

You know what'd be great? If you could get struck by lightning on the toilet. In Germany we have a saying "beim scheißen vom blitz getroffen" which means something like "strucked by lightning while taking a shit"

ReplyDeleteOne think I know about crashing apps is that sometimes some apps crash for the amount of apps installed. It happened with Appsniper, you had to delete some apps to make it run.
I think it's not a PG only problem, it happens with some other apps. Whenewer this happens to me I turn my itouch off, turn it on, or delete some useless apps, or try to install again.
But mine works fine, with wifi on, works with Feint, etc.
Just adding to the many above. yes, it keeps crashing everytime I launch the app. I've rebooted, resprung, reinstalled but still can't play.

even though there's many comments, YOU SHOULD READ THIS BECAUSE WHAT I HAVE TO TELL IS A BIT FUNNY:D well ok... it's not THAT funny... when a Pygmy is in the toilet and you make it night, the sound of the other znooring pygmys make it sound like he's farting and having a tremendous poopoo coming out... you must have all the pygmys out... or else the sound gets to low and boorng
ReplyDeleteI keep on commenting because I have no lifeXD I've found another glitch that looks like the other toiletglitch... dunno how to do it but one of my pygmys waited outside the toilet, wich was vacant, and started jumping around, you know, when he has waited too long... suddenly he dissapeared only leaving the name on the right side of the toilet... when another Pygmy came, he started waiting and didn't go in, even though it was vacant... so I knocked the door two times, and then the first Pygmy, who dissapeared, came out!!

i removed the preferences.plist from the PG dir and started PG. the preferences.plist was auto created and the game runs fine on all devices !! i posted this earlier but my comment was not approved or something because it still doesn't show...
Dear Dave, and whoever else.... I have had pocket god since it first came out and have watched the entertainment game go from a simple piece of work to a masterpiece. I am a beta tester for Cydia and have been hacking(jailbreaking) my 2g iphone since it came out... I have only one problem with Pocket God, when it starts up, if it takes too long it thinks it stalls and quits because the available memory usage in springboard drops below ten, to solve this problem I toggle my edge off, I leave my wifi on and dont really have a problem, sometimes I just have to try opening it up again and as soon as it gets in I move a guy around and it doesnt freeze and quit. What I do like about pocket god though is that it does not affect my HDD free: 147mb on/ 5532 on /var memory.. which is very helpful because cydia is a memory killer... I have tried using the new "ICE" installer like cydia with pocket god but had HORRIBLE results... so I restored my iphone and put cydia back on.. When I play pocket god I usually have no themes running, so that most likely helps a lot, also I turn insomnia off which frees the iphone of programs running in the background... Pocket god works just fine with WIFI on it just takes a couple times to start up, toggle off your edge or 3g, turn off themes, and it should work fine:-) Hope this helps for people who have it constantly stall and exit. Good job on the game bolt!
ReplyDeleteSo when I put my phone into safe mode it worked. However, I dot want to put it into safe mode every time I want to play. What else can I do? I've rebooted and reupdated and everything.

teryodactyles that can swoop through the air and pciks up a islander and fly away with him......a bee hive or locusts that if you disturd their habitats they will chase and sting or eat that pgymy.....
Dave is right Safe Mode does work and for those who dont know how to do it here is a tutorial (it doesnt work with non-jailbroken i think) :
ReplyDelete1. go to cydia and search SBsettings
2. after you installed it it will restart your SB (SpringBoard)
3. then slide your status bar (the line where your wifi signal is) and this menu should come
4. click power
5. click safe mode
and voila have fun playing pocket god

ReplyDeleteOh no... just updated and can't get it to load without crashing. I have a non-jailbroken phone and have restarted it. I did a soft reset and a hard reset. No good. Please fix!

ReplyDeleteyeah.. mine also crashes.. and i dont have a Jail-broken ipod touch. I paid .99 cents for Pocket God. And when i add some Pygmy's, it just crashes out of no where?!? Can yuh please fix dat.. and also. I bought a Skeleton Fish Halloween pack and i dont know where it is!?! So i just wasted .99 cents. -.-
