Guys! For the first time, a Pocket God update has been rejected. We were shocked and the reason Apple sent us was extremely vague! They sent us a screenshot with the menu open and said we violated "Apple Branding"...meaning we used an image that is owned by Apple. The only thing we can think of is that the gravity icon (a very simplified iPhone tilted) is the issue. I mean, surely a volcano icon isn't owned by Apple? Or the question mark?
What can we say? We are really sorry, as we know how much people look forward to the updates. So we changed the gravity icon and are submitting a new update tonight. This one will be a two-for-one. Something's Fishy and March of the Fire Ants. And just to let you know that we are NOT slowing down, we are in progress for the update after that, titled "What's my name?". AND we have a surprise that we are uploading to our YouTube in the next day or two.
Again, our apologies! We just didn't see this coming!

I looked at the main menu, don't really see what caused the problem. its not like you have a huge apple logo in the middle of your app. good to hear you reacted positively to this, and keep submitting updates. thank you for your effort and this great app.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys and JB....I just realized it looks like an April Fools joke, but its not. It is kind of coincidental timing.....Because actually...we DID include an April Fools joke in "Something's Fishy" but now its been ruined! Tomorrow I'll put up our now-defunct April Fools joke!

This is really rediculous. If apple never had a problem with it before, Why now? I think it might be because you have such an amazing app that so many people love for 99 cents and updates making it even better coming out every week.
ReplyDeleteOf course we feel it was unfair or that we were targeted...but the honest truth is that this happens to lots of developers and I think Apple's requirements are getting stricter. We just wish they were more specific in their feedback because we had to GUESS it was the iphone image because nothing else made sense. Nick, to answer your question, the upload itself only takes a couple minutes, but as you might have noticed it has taken a week or less to get reviewed. I think maybe it took longer this time because of the rejection. Hopefully we've corrected the problem! We are predicting (along with everyone else) that this will nail us in sales, and therefore ranking. So we are totally bummed. But again, we aren't the only developer this has happened to.
ReplyDeletehey, went in to read a bit on the pocketgod app on appstore... of course I've already bought it.... anyways, what I was going to write was that the txt has dissapeard... there's nothing but the logo on top, and the pictures on the bottom... I'm sure it's nothing, but my iPod touch went all crazy and I had to restart it when I got in

ReplyDeleteYeah as much as it sucks getting the update rejected and messing with (in my eyes) the #1 application, I think it's freaking awesome that these guys are now doing a 2 For 1. They could have just tried releasing Something Fishy then had us wait another week for Fire Ants. Thanks for also having this site to keep the fans up to date because itunes/app store don't tell us what's going on. I don't know many apps that have sites to keep fans updated and do 2 for 1 updates.

I have read Apple are getting stricer on the usage of images of iPhones/iPod Touches (and their IP in general) and lots of existing apps which have up until now been using such images in their instructions are now having updates rejected.
ReplyDeleteOf course the simple solution is to not use any Apple imagery (logos, device images etc) but that's annoying since it's the easiest way to explain accelerometer controls.

ReplyDeleteHey Bolt Creative, I have been thinking about that Feint system. I don't think you should be focusing on it as your main priority, it is nice and all but it can wait I would wrather you updating pocket god with things like natural disasters & ect. In addition I have some suggestions for updates. Maybe you could make it so the pygmies can have tribal ceremonies or the pygmies have hut they can live in and if you use the hurricane it blowws away. Maybe you could add nice creatures or vicious creatures and the pygmies can hunt them to eat or make them pets. Try and add items on the island and more foods, and they can cook it on a fire. Maybe the pygmies get a boat and travel to different islands to expand their kind and go to war with other pygmies. Last thing, you could add things like diseases and sicknesses such as the flu or smallpox. Thats all, please reply Bolt Creative, keep it up!!!

ReplyDeleteGuys the reason the App page is acting up is because, Bolt has updated the text on the page. When things like that happen Apples servers have an odd time updating them too and that effect can/will happen. This happened before with Apples own Remote App, they updated the text and it had the same effect. Anyway just wanted to let you know that Pocket God is not being taken down, but will be up shortly.

Im gettin EXTREMELY bored with this app EXTREMELY fast. You guys really need a GREAT update or fans are gonna start putting this away for good. I dont play this app often at all. Apple is a very honest company, they really aren't trying to shoot down pocket god so other apps can make it to the top. Other apps have to be more creative to deserve to be #1. I think pocket god wont stand on #4 for much longer. The apps ahead of us suck!!!

make it so you can go online and have one islander on an island you can type things and have it pop up in a speech bubble above their head. Have it interactive so you can kill other or pick them up but then they reappear
