Pocket Gamer interviews Dave About In-app Purchases
Out of the top 25! Nooooo! Well, we knew this day would come! Let's hope we get a similar resurrection as Flick Fishing or Doodle Jump, but the app store is hard to predict!
So, I mentioned in the last post, we are working on new functionality for Pocket God and since Dave let the cat of the bag, I will tell you, we are still going to give updates for free, but start customization as an in-app purchase. Our idea is that we will create "custom packs" for certain PG elements. And each will cost 99 cents. That way, we aren't going to start charging for updates that fans expect for free, but we can continue to develop PG and it make sense for us fiscally. At least that's the theory. It all depends if people actually buy the customizations! The first element we are working on is the T-Rex..and I'm guessing when people see it, they will want it!
Hopefully fans who are used to getting all new content for free will see that we are trying to make PG development make sense for US, but not burn THEM. Pocket Gamer interviews dave about in-app transactions here:

Damn I just lost the game :(
ReplyDeleteIm guessing the Dinosaur will be purple with a green stomach because if so I would easily buy BARNEY for my pocket god
ReplyDeletei disagree with that because i'm not able to pay for apps unless i get an iTunes gift card and that's rare.
ReplyDeleteNoooooooo !
ReplyDeleteIn-app purchase is lame, it makes players of one same app unequal, which is tough to handle for an OpenFeint challenges enabled game, and it's boring to know you haven't bought the whole app yet, right after purchasing it.
BTW, I see that 90% of the App Store paid apps mention free updates as a *big* advertising argument, but is it really possible for the devs to make an update paid ? I've never seen such a thing ...
NOO I DONT WANT MONEY ONES but i might buy just becuse i love pg but its on the no end :( sorry bolt
ReplyDeleteUPDATE IS OUT!!!!! IT'S AWESOME!!!!
ReplyDeletezombie update is out!!! its awesome
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean your upgrading to 3.0 software ?
ReplyDeletei must say that i dont mind the new idea, its acually kinda cool, although expensive
ReplyDeleteI totally understand why you guys are doing the in-app stuff but I really hope you guys make the extras worth the price. I'm willing to pay a few extra bucks because I believe Pocket God is worth more than 99 cents.
ReplyDeleteAre the 'packages' only customization extensions?
has i said bolt i will buy them if they have some really cool stuff if not then :( crap but i still say PG IS THE BEST GAME IN THE APP STORE there should be an achevment that says life waster wast 1 day of your life playing pg XD and so on lol
ReplyDeleteWhy exactly do you have to update to 3.0? is it a money issue, why does apple have to make you do that? I don't have extra money lying around everymonth to "upgrade" my firmware.
ReplyDeleteThat is just a horrible idea i play pg every day and it is swicked (sweet and wicked) the way it is so you should not do the packs so please don't do it
ReplyDeleteI mean pocket god is just genius the way it is and it would get ruined if you did do the packages so please don't. P.S. oh and i hope you like the picture is sent in
